A new South African vehicle recall affects 2,575 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Lexus GX and UX, and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. The National Consumer Commission says owners should contact an authorised dealership immediately for an inspection and repair. Corrective work linked to this recall will be completed at no cost to the consumer.
Do not wait for a warning light or obvious symptom. The reported faults involve missing instrument-cluster warnings on some Prados and potentially delayed side-airbag deployment on the affected Jeep and Lexus vehicles.

Toyota South Africa reported that the affected Prados were made available between 5 December 2023 and 7 August 2025. A software error in the combination meter may prevent part of the display from initialising correctly during startup.
If the fault occurs, the display may not show engine-oil-pressure, engine-coolant-temperature, electrical-charge and other warning messages. The NCC says the affected vehicles were sold nationally through Toyota dealerships.
The Jeep recall covers 255 Grand Cherokee WL vehicles. The NCC says 251 were sold nationwide from 2023 to 2025, while four remained with the manufacturer when the notice was issued.
The concern is software in the airbag control unit. A door airbag pressure-sensor fault may remain active and could delay side-airbag deployment. That delay may reduce front-seat occupant protection in certain crashes and increase injury risk.
The Lexus recall covers 41 GX and UX vehicles made available between 17 April 2024 and 8 September 2025. The reported airbag-control-unit issue is similar to the Jeep concern: software may allow a pressure-sensor fault to remain active and potentially delay side-airbag deployment.
If the Prado instrument display goes blank or important warning information disappears while driving, move to a safe place as soon as conditions allow and contact roadside assistance or an authorised dealer. Do not guess whether oil pressure, coolant temperature or charging-system conditions are safe.

A recall does not automatically make a vehicle a poor purchase. The important checks are whether the VIN falls within the campaign and whether the authorised repair has been completed. A buyer should ask for the dealer job card or written confirmation. A seller should disclose an outstanding recall and arrange the free corrective work instead of leaving the next owner to discover it.
If this recall has prompted a broader vehicle decision, you can browse the Motordeal Premium showroom, review the trade-in process, explore finance options, or contact the team. A recall check remains a separate manufacturer and authorised-dealer process.
Yes. The NCC states that corrective work relating to this recall will be carried out at no cost to the consumer.
Still ask an authorised dealer to check the VIN. Software-related safety defects can exist without a constant visible symptom.
Contact the relevant authorised brand dealership first. The manufacturer recall campaign, parts, software updates and completion records are managed through the authorised network.
